HAVING FUN AT OLD MCMICKEY'S FARM

Hello all,

Sometimes it's hard looking for inexpensive things to do. If you have a grandchild as I do, you love taking her places to have fun. One place we enjoy taking her is Old McMickey's Farm. I wouldn't of even known about this little gem if I hadn't applied for a job there sometime back. It's a great place to take the little ones. Each tour takes about  1-1/2 hours depending on how many people are in your group.

Old McMickey's Farm offers an opportunity for kids to interact face to face with farm animals. It shows kids how life was lived on an American farm. When we first got there we joined a tour already in progress. The horses were our first stop. They had 3 horses harnessed up and ready for horsey rides. There were 3 different sized horses. They walk your kid with your assistance around a small carral  and stop for lots of pictures, I think this was one of my granddaughters favorite parts.

Our next stop was the cow milking. Here they actually let you pet and milk a cow with their assistance. Many of the kids and adults enjoyed this! Then next was my granddaughters absolute favorite! The chickens! They play the chicken dance song, and then show you how to hold the chickens. My granddaughter loved doing the dance and catching and holding them.

Other animals they got to encounter were rabbits, goats, and ducks. You got to see a pig and a donkey too, but those ones you couldn't pet. Lastly we went on a hayride. Honestly, I could of done without this part. It was just a big loop around a field giving you a view of 2 steers and quite a few dilapidated cabins they used for camping at one time. But the little ones enjoyed it.

They do field trips, tours, weddings, birthday parties and private rentals. Admission for the tours is $13 adults, kids 2-12 $11, kids 2 and under free. They are open 9am to 1 pm, closed Mondays. They are located at 9612 Crescent Drive, Odessa. A great place to visit for all!
