Hello all,
Sorry for my absence lately. I just got back from an extended vacation. Boy, was it hot but a lot of fun! I just got back from the great state of Texas, in particular Austin. Texas in ways reminds me a lot of Florida. It's so incredibly hot there, it's really hard to enjoy outside activities this time of year. But that doesn't mean you can' still have fun. There is an abundance of fun indoor activities to do too!
Since the weather was so unbelievably hot, we just had to go swimming. We chose
Barton Springs Pool . The pool measures 3 acres in size and is fed from undergrounds springs. It can have depths of up to 18 feet. And the water is so cold! The water temperature averages between 68-70 year round. The pool was very crowded the day we went. I like that it has lifeguards and a diving board. The water is very beautiful, and it's close to downtown. There is a cost to get in, for a non resident is $8. But be warned, it gets crowded quickly so parking can be hard to find. I highly recommend visiting this pool at least once. It is open till 10 pm daily and is located at 2201 Barton Springs Rd., Austin.

By this time during our vacation we started to get thirsty. We decided to visit the
Family Business Beer Co. I was excited to visit this one. I am a big Supernatural fan, and this is the newest Austin brewery that is owned and operated by Supernatural star Jensen Ackles and his family. I really loved the look of this place. It gave the appearance of being at a farmhouse, with lots of outside seating at picnic tables. It had a lot of space, with strings of lights strung through the trees, and a playground for the kids. There were many games of Cornhole present if anyone felt like playing. The person manning the door checking IDS was very friendly, he even took a family photo for us! Unfortunately we had bad timing, because he informed us we just missed Jensen Ackles, the day before he showed up to give everyone a free concert. Oh, and the beer was quite tasty and reasonable priced. Most of my party got beer flights consisting of several samples from sours to ale, and stout. One got one with watermelon basil she said was delicious. The brewery is open most days till 10pm, closed Monday and Tuesday. Their address is 19510 Hamilton Pool Rd, Dripping Springs.

The last place I want to tell you about that we visited was the
Urban Air Adventure park. I know these trampoline parks are everywhere, but we had a lot of fun at this one. They had a slam dunk zone, a warrior course, a dropzone, dodgeball, a battlezone and trampolines galore. They kids really enjoyed showing off their trampoline skills. Then they had to battle each other in the battlezone where they tried to knock each other down off a small walkway into a pile of foamy sponges. But what they really enjoyed was the dodgeball. There they had practiced the 5 D's of dodgeball- dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge. Don't worry, the throwing of wrenches was not allowed! This place was a lot of fun and is open most days till 8-10 pm. It costs $16.99, and they make you buy special socks for $2.50. It is located at 15407 Long Vista Drive, Austin.
