I have been fortunate enough to get back a few days ago from a wonderful vacation in the awesome city of St. Augustine. St. Augustine is the oldest city in the US. Being such, it is rich in history and has many historical sights to see along with many attractions.

Of course we weren't familiar with the city, but we still wanted to see as much of it as possible. So we took The Ripley's Red Train Tour. We heard many good things about this tour and we weren't disappointed. It was so much fun. We were fortunate to have a red train stop right across from our hotel. The red train, and yes it does look like a train, drives you around the city and makes 20 stops for you to get on or off. The stops are located near the historic sites, attractions, restaurants and shops. Everything you would want to see!

While you ride, the tour guide tells you stories and the history of each point of interest as you go by. Our tour guide was Benjy. He was very, very knowledgeable of the history of the city, and he was hilarious. We had so much fun on the tour. We wound up riding it all day for the fun and for the convenience of not having to do any driving. It's a great bargain, and I highly recommend the tour! The whole tour takes about 90 minutes. Tickets are adults $12.99, kids $8.99.

Since St. Augustine is also known as one of the most haunted cities in the US, we just had to take a ghost tour. We took the The Ripley's Ghost Train Adventure Tour. We had an awesome time. You started out at the Ripley's Museum where you boarded the train and they passed out lasers and EMF readers. I was excited about using the EMF reader. Once we saw that Benjy was our tour guide for this also, we knew we were in for a fun time!

We rode the train around a little as he spun tales of chilling ghost stories and historical facts. Our first stop was the Old Sugar Mill where we were told many people have captured pictures of ghosts and floating orbs. All of our EMF readers went off right away. We had 30 minutes to investigate the buildings as we stayed together as a group.

Our next stop was the Fort Castillo de San Marcos, where Benjy told us tales about the haunted fort. He said the whole grassy area we were standing on was actually a mass gravesite. He also told us the story of a doctor from the fort long ago who cut off the head of a chief and put it in a pickling jar. He then took it out to show his children when they misbehaved. After another story, we boarded the train again.

The last and final stop was back to the Ripley's Museum where we were told there have been many ghostly occurrences. We had a different guide for this last part. She told us a story of there being a lot of people murdered in the building when it was a residence. One in particular was a woman who was found killed in a bathtub. They had the bathtub on display. Our EMF readers were really lighting up in this building. After walking through a few more rooms, using our EMF readers and hearing a few more ghastly stories, it was time to go.

We really had a great time on this tour. It was both entertaining and educational learning about St. Augustine's haunted past. We would definitely do this tour again! This tour also took about 90 minutes. It's a must see! Check out our youtube video below. Tickets are adults $24, kids $13.
