MY REVIEW OF THE AWESOME FLORIDA AQUARIUM

Hello all,

We recently had some out of town family members visiting. With the great abundance of things to do here in the sunshine state we had many options. One place that we all agreed upon was the Florida Aquarium!

Let's just say, everyone loved it! This place is so big. It is a 250,000 square foot  aquarium accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Their exhibits are laid out to show the journey of a drop of water. Our first stop was the Wetlands Trail.  I loved the way they had the tanks set up. You could see in the tank and above the water in the tank, This enabled the little ones in strollers to see what's going on in the tank. Our little one just loved watching all the fish swim by. But what she loved the most were the otters! They were so playful racing each other around in the tank, they were a joy to watch. They are very observant and one of them even took notice of our little one in the stroller. She even adopted one, like sponsoring.

Our next stop was the Journey to Madagascar. It was a small exhibit, but the lemurs were amazing to watch. They were so friendly. Then off to the Bays and Beaches where you can see a giant Goliath Grouper and pet the stingrays. Then there is the No Bone Zone where the jellyfish were our favorites. We also really enjoyed the Coral Reefs because of the giant tank of sharks they had. There we got to meet their mascots and got pictures with them. Then off to the Dragons Down Under where we viewed seahorses. Last but not least we viewed the Oceans in Commotion enjoying the octopus. They even have an outdoor water park for the little ones to enjoy.

The place was not very crowded and we found it very affordable. Adults are $24.95, kids $19.95, 2 and under is free. It definitely is worth it and I recommend a visit here. The address is 701 Channelside Drive, Tampa. Their hours are 9:30 -5:00 parking is $6.00. Enjoy!

  1. We got an aquarium a few years ago in San Antonio, Texas. This seems to be so much bigger! What an experience for you to have and great FAMILY TIME!

  5. Tampa looks like a great place to bring the kids. Im planning to bring my daughter in Ocean Park maybe nextmonth. I know that they will learn a lot from visiting that kind of place.

  6. I usually steer clear of aquariums and zoos because I'm worried about the animals being held in bad conditions and captive breeding of animals for human entertainment. The Tampa aquarium could be a well run facility though, not saying it isn't, but the last time I went to Zoo was the Honolulu Zoo and it was kind of depressing.

  7. I think I visited here years ago. I enjoyed myself and my girls liked it too. I don't remember the titles to the exhibits like no bone zone that's funny. I'm glad there are places for us to visit and see animams we may never get to see. I think I remember a manatee there as well in rehab? Which is a great lesson for kids:boat safety and helping injured animals.

  12. Aww Sounds like you guys had an awesome time! I think aquariums are a great way for kids to see nature up close since a book or the television just doesn't do them justice.

It would have been neat to see the lemurs and the jellyfish, they both look like interesting creatures!
