A CONVERSATION WITH THE TALENTED SINGER NIKKI PARKER

Hello all,

The music industry has been exploding for years with brand new talented singers. Their music is so much more readily available now. I have had the opportunity and privilege to sit down with new talented indie singer from Austin Nikki Parker. In case you don't already know, Nikki Parker is a new indie pop singer that brings all the vibes of her city's nightlife into her music. Her new single "Temporary" has played on radio stations across the country including Radio St. Pete and Austin City Limits Radio. She also has been featured on The Lone Star State of MInd with Loris Lowe. She is an exciting new artist with a stellar sound. I am looking forward to see what's next for her. Here's what she had to say:

1. Could you please introduce yourself and include a little background information?

Hi, my name is Nikki Parker. I live in Austin, Texas, originally from Florida. I like to make music.

2. What inspired you to get into music?

I have always been a hard core music fan. From a very young age, it was something I always took seriously. I remember begging my parents at the age of 8 to take me to my first concert. And when they agreed, I made a calendar marking off each day till the event. Music was always something that was important to me.

3. Who are your current music inspirations?

I love music spanning across all different genres. Personal favorites range from La Dispute and Circus Survive, all the way to Father John Misty, Washed Out, and even Ariana Grande. As far as inspirations for the music I make, I am inspired by lots of great female artists like Halsey, Lights, Demi Lovato, and the legendary Lady Gaga.

4. What comes first with writing a song, the music or lyrics?

It is different for every song. Sometimes it will start with a melody, or sometimes lyrics will come into my head. It just depends, and then I build off of it.

5. What message if any are you trying to convey with your music?

I think if I were to say there was a message I was trying to put out there, it would be about hope. Just driving home the fact that every day can be a fresh start if you want it to.

6.  So I hear you are putting together a fall tour. What are you looking forward to most about that?

I am excited to get out there and play some shows. I am looking forward to testing my boundaries, spreading my music, and earning some new fans.

7. What place would you really like to perform at?

It has been a dream of mine to perform at Red Rocks in Colorado.

8. What artists would you like to tour with?

There are so many, but the one at the top of the list is Twenty One Pilots. They put on such a phenomenal live show, and would be so cool to be a part of that!

9.  So you have done a few covers, what was your favorite sing to do?

I had a lot of fun cover Mad World by Gary Jules. I think it is such a beautiful song as there so much that can be done with it. So I enjoyed putting my spin on it.

This last question is just for fun and not music related.

10. What is your favorite show to binge watch?

The Office. I am probably on my 60th rewatch.
